Frequently Asked Questions

How are prayer times calculated?+

Iqra uses the adhan library for offline prayer time calculations based on your GPS location. You can choose from multiple calculation methods (Umm Al-Qura, Muslim World League, ISNA, and more) in Settings.

Does the app work offline?+

Yes. Prayer times are calculated locally on your device. The Quran text and all dhikr/dua content are stored in a local SQLite database after initial download, so everything works without an internet connection.

How do I change the prayer calculation method?+

Go to Settings (gear icon in the tab bar) and tap on "Calculation Method" to select the method used in your region.

Why are notifications not showing up?+

Make sure notifications are enabled for Iqra in your device's Settings app. On Android, also check that battery optimization is not restricting the app, and that exact alarm permissions are granted.

How do I switch between Mushaf and modern Quran reading modes?+

While reading, tap the screen to show the overlay controls, then use the mode toggle button to switch between the classic Mushaf page view and the modern verse-by-verse view.

Is the app free?+

Yes, completely free with no ads and no subscriptions.
